Tjuonajokk » About Tjuonajokk

Tjuonajokk is one of Sweden´s most famous fishing lodges. It is located by one of the last untouched rivers in Sweden, river Kaitum, between Kiruna and Gällivare in Swedish Lapland. You get to the lodge by helicopter from Kiruna airport, the flight is included in our pricing for the summer season. The nearest road is in Nikkaloukta, 35 km north from us. With a good connection by air total travel time from Stockholm Arlanda international airport (ARN) is only 2,5 hours. So you reach Europe´s last true wilderness and world class fishing in the same time as a bad commuting day in one of the major cities.

The lodge is selfcatering cabins, a fine restaurant, boats, fishing guides, sauna, a store with fishing gear and necessities. Also there is conference possibilities in the main building. The fishing, fly fishing for grayling in particular, is known worldwide. In Tjuonajokk anglers from all over the world meet to fish one of the best grayling waters there is. Besides trophy size grayling we target char, trout and large pike.

The indiginous heritage is present at all times, Tjuonajokk is Sami for "Goose Creek", and is a place with strong Sami prescence and history. The two Sami communities, Girjas and Baste, are highly active in the area, a great opportunity to meet a culture almost forgotten and opressed for centuries.  Tjuonajokk gives you other rewards besides the marvellous fishing. The cultural exchange between guests is a deep well of  knowledge, in terms of fishing and often in terms of philosophy...
